Commentaires
begging calls from a young bird on a branch, with one adult call at the end. This was just before the adult flew in to feed the young. A lot of road noise, unfortunately.
Détails de l'observation
I kept hearing an odd 'frog' call - it took me a moment to realize it might be a baby cuckoo, although it does sound a bit like their flight call. Eventually saw this bird high up, thanks to its regular begging. The parent would come in every 6-10 minutes or so, for a very brief (seemingly <1sec) feeding interaction. It will be interesting to see this bird's growth if it sticks around for the next few days. Cuckoos have an absurdly fast egg-laying to fledgling period, 17 days according to BOW.
