This young female has her very own hiding/splitting spot for the peanuts she pulls out of the round feeder above her. This is the ONLY crevice in the tree she uses---everytime. Fun to watch behaviour! Dad actually taught her this. Personalities of their own :-)

Both juvies we've seen grow up here I believe.......the male has a blacker, more stubby bill and his malar appears to be more orange-red than deep red. The female has quite a bit of "barring" on her head, and more spots on her breast/flanks. Hanging on tight re: strong winds and lots of rain!
