Détails de l'observation
**Rare, continuing. Long-staying immature foraging actively in open water in middle pool of Eaton Marsh, often in close proximity to the avocet. Eventually flew back into grass at north edge of this pond. Adult moved out to be visible just after this, then flew across the pool for a good look and disappeared into vegetation along the south side of the pond. Immature not well marked, but lores, eyes, and legs look uniformly dark with no hint of red discernible. Occasional impressions of red on the face turned out to be the bright pink in the gape. Upperparts pale iridescent green, underparts dark brown marked with white. Bill grayish horn. Adult much more well marked, with distinct white edging to face and chestnut shoulder.
