Détails de l'observation
First noticed this bird almost directly overhead due to alarm calls by crows. I watched it as it slowly circled to the east with a small flock of crows in pursuit. Last seen heading towards the music academy, when the crows broke off the pursuit. Got photos through binoculars with my iPhone. Photo time stamp is 09:59. Small buteo, barely larger than the crows. Brown above and very white below, including the underwings. Wing tips contrastingly tipped with black, and with thin black trailing edge to wing. Chest and belly with sparse dark streaks. Broad dark malar stripe and white throat. Tail (from below) mostly pale, tipped dark. Tail (from above) mostly brown, tipped darker, possibly with thin dark barring (?). Primaries with paler patch in primaries visible from above (visible in one photo, not noticed in the field).
