Détails de l'observation
A juvenile was foraging with yellowlegs on the gravel bars downstream. This was a medium smaller shorebird, smaller than Lesser Yellowlegs. It had a thin, needle-like black beak, was white below and on supercilium. When it tipped forward, I could see the blacker and browner upperparts that had prominent gold bars longitudinally along scapulars. Its legs were bright orangish-yellow. The bird fed by picking left and right at the surface of the water and rocks as it moved in a sometimes rapid and erratic way. Given this species is now well on migration, it is unlikely it was a local bird, but as I had hoped they had nested after seeing copulation earlier in the summer at the Flood Farm. This was a very bright and fresh-looking individual.
