Détails de l'observation
Female. Second island record. Photos. While eating dinner NJD pointed out a small hummingbird on the Gambelia outside our room. Significantly smaller than the resident Allen's nearby (and which occasionally perched on the same branch), with peachy (not rusty) wash across flanks and upper chest, finely spotted throat, short tail, short straight bill. Green upper parts and upper tail, tail black with white tips. It made a high “teet, tee-teet” call while foraging and pumped its tail. We were able to study it well for 15 minutes or so and invited others to come see it. The only previous record for San Clemente Island was a male captured on 3 May 1974.
