Détails de l'observation
First spotted rising from the trees to the east of the park while standing in the parking lot near the Worm-eating location, a few minutes after the majority of the vultures had already lifted. With my binoculars I could tell it was a smaller hawk, buteo shaped, and had a prominent white band in the tail. Luckily I was able to find Tom, and he was able to get it in his scope and confirm that it was a Broad-winged. My quick looks through Tom's scope were good enough to see the pale underwings with a black border. Johnny had reported seeing a Broad-winged candidate about 15 minutes prior, but stated that it had flown east out of view. This is almost certainly a different bird. Horrible distant photo
