Détails de l'observation
-First spotted around 1030 while it made a pass from the starboard side of the vessel and worked its way close to the stern and arched its way West past the port side of the boat. All members were able to observe its glory and take some great photos. Last seen just past the continental shelf at these general cords. (38.015908,-123.496147) which were taken on Google Maps and Gaia GPS. Mario's notes: The first seen between swells and could only see a profile of the head. The bill and contrast in the head were well defined in these moments. Once I saw the pointed wings with dark upper parts, bright white undersides with thick black bars under the wing caused me to notify the group that I was on a Pterodroma. Flight behavior didn't initially seem typical of gadfly until it took off heading SW with moderately sharp arches. Great views at close range and the captain was able to chase down for a bit of time before losing it to the swell. A life bird for myself and many others.
