Détails de l'observation
Continuing rarities first found on March 16 by Woody Kuehn. Relocated yesterday by Owen Sinkus and this morning at approx. 8:15 by David Buckley just north of the 5.2 mile barrel perhaps 100 yards south of the Varied Thrush stakeout of last October. Two apparently winter-plumaged female birds, light gray head and underside, except for yellow breast and rump, with diffuse streaking, a light olive-brown back, golden wing-bars and primaries, a short, conical, light-colored, finch-type bill and dark eyes. One had a few white feathers on its crown. Observed with a number of other birders at approx. 9:15 a.m. and then again at 12 noon. They spent some time in the elms bordering the ditch but most of the time were down low in the dense willows, occasionally coming to water to drink (once during each visit). Photos.
