Détails de l'observation
Lifer!!! I am so psyched I saw this bird! Large, dark bird, with a similar wing pattern to a turkey vulture. I knew this was different that the red-tails that were around right away, as the wings were too dark to be a dark morph red-tail, and this bird was huge. So, my next though was bald. But the giss was wrong. It wasn’t flapping as “awkwardly” as a bald, and I saw no white pits, head, tail, or splotches. Then I though it was maybe a turkey vulture? But no. The wings were way to broad, and the head projected out too far. Photos revealed a golden nape!!! It was southbound circling the lower field, way up in the sky.
