Détails de l'observation
Well!! I was trying to bag some shots of the Fantails in the bird-ball when a small but sturdy shape fluttered up from the grass and onto a fallen branch; it was so small and grey I almost thought it was a Dusky Robin... but no!! Instead, a perfect young Shrike-Thrush was perched there as it savagely beat the living daylights out of a caterpillar!! I knew this was going to be a great photoshoot; I had no issues with kneeling in the dirt for this one!! This in itself made for some great shots... but then, astonishingly, the little bird saw me and came hopping in, fluttering from sapling to sapling until, quite suddenly, it was sitting within arm's reach of my head!! I've never had such a close call with a Shrike-Thrush before...
