Commentaires
A male Arizona Woodpecker is drumming high in a tall, dead conifer. After about 40 seconds, he moves up to a higher (perhaps hollower?) section of the 50’ dead tree, where the drum sounds louder. Background includes: N. (Red-shafted) Flicker, Mexican Jay, Acorn Woodpecker. As it flew toward the creek, it called in flight—which is the second cut. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal 22" parabola.
Détails de l'observation
I recorded the drumming of a male, which then flew across the road. Then a female called in the SME area as the drumming, which didn’t recur during the next 15 minutes (though there were several vocalizations). Later, a heard another call from well down the canyon.
