Détails de l'observation
Seen at mouth of Napa River at 840am. Was floating and preening, and not far from a RT Loon. Size was comparable to a RT Loon (perhaps a bit bulkier) but the black going up the middle of the neck gave it a very different appearance. Rounded head gave the head a “cobra” appearance to my eyes, which quickly separated it from a common loon. Had straight, thin bill. When it faced me the black sides of neck created a unique white throat bordered in black. Did not see white flanks. Got some unidentifiable pix. I lost the bird when I was taking photos through my scope and calling Roger, then the Vallejo ferry came through and I was never able to find it again.
