Détails de l'observation
A male, continuing for a while now. Largish duck (a little longer than most of the nearby GRSC) with grayish-white back and flanks, a black breast, dark undertail, and a rusty head. The giveaway doorstop head profile wasn't visible, as the bird -- no doubt tired from all the recent attention -- kept its head tucked back and was presumably sleeping for the duration of my visit, drifting in and out of a smallish raft of scaup. Many thanks to Edward J., who took the time to point out its precise location; given its distance out on the water, the poor lighting, and the fact that it was sleeping, I may well have missed it otherwise.
