NOTES: (Breeding Status: Territorial paired. Behav. Context: Feeding. Gen. Climate: Dry. Cover Density: Open.) BNA: Initially Peaked Vocalization "phee-eur"; Chatter vocalization?; sounds of nestlings not described in BNA. mf [This represents almost exclusively the Initially Peaked Vocalization (IPV) of BNA (see also Figure 1 of Smith, W. J. 1970b. Displays and message assortment in Sayornis species. Behaviour 37: 85-112), but there are also begging calls by the nestlings (e.g., 5:58-6:07, 7:44-7:49, 8:14-8:19 (probably the BEST example), 8:35-8:38) and some bill-snapping (the latter possibly given by Contopus sordidulus). Most of these calls, and probably all of the better ones (8:03-8:12), appear to have been given by the nestlings. Quality changed from 3 to 3, 2 (although the recordist and others are talking over many of the best vocalizations) - 5 April 2005]. Other Behaviors: Establish Parent Young Contact, Beg. Habitat: Evergreen Forest, Coniferous Forest, Deciduous Forest, Stream, Riparian.
