Détails de l'observation
Count included three Dark Morphs and one White Morph The Turcotte Refuge main pond was mostly drained for the late spring and summer. Several dozen white egrets and herons were resting in trees on the far side of the pond from the observation blind. The roosts were too distant to make firm identifications for most of the white birds, however, one white heron left the group and settled in one of the shallow pools only about 50 yards from the blind. It stayed long enough to get one decent photo with the heron stationary, and a fair shot after it took off to return to the common roost in the distance. After returning home and downloading the photos, I was convinced of the identification by the lighter colored legs and the heavier bill found in the Great White Heron but not in the Great Egret.
