Détails de l'observation
Safe to say I did not expect to see this bird when I came to look for the Bonaparte’s Gull reported here earlier this afternoon (which I never found). I picked up on the bird when it swooped out over weed beach and over the East beach of cove. From the dark patches on the wings and dark belly splotch I immediately recognized that I had an immature light morph Rough-legged Hawk. I had the bird in view for 5 minutes as it drifted directly over my head before being assaulted by a Northern Harrier and driven away to the east over Darien. I spent a good chunk of time trying to find the bird in my scope which I was never able to do. Fortunately I was able to fight through the cold to get identifiable digibins which I will upload. Life bird, and easily the best bird I have ever found 😎
