Showing very limited black on underside of primaries and small bill and steep forehead.
Détails de l'observation
****very rare, especially for fall. Seen from base of causeway (seems to be where pelakegic birds cross between lake sections), then worked around a lot before flying way W along N side of lake. Young sterna Tern with EFG balding look to the head ruling out FOTE (as did dark edges to tail feathers). When seen from below, primaries somewhat translucent with dark limited only to the tips (vs much more extensive in COTE). When it finally banked [[EDIT: and in pix of it up close]], upperwing flight feathers noticeably paler than COTE would be, with relatively limited dark and overall bright vibe closer to FOTE. [EDIT: I forgot how bill size is helpful for these, bill is much smaller and daintier than would be expected on COTE.] Several nice pics obtained.
