Détails de l'observation
We walked west uphill on gravel track from Konnowac Pass on north-facing hillside in habitat with Bluebunch Wheatgrass and Sandberg's Bluegrass, with scattered Big Sagebrush. Two flocks of partridge called from different spots in grassland downhill from us, then flew at dusk up from steppe and headed south to denser grassland on higher north-facing slopes, presumably to roost. Debie and Ron Brown, who live just below, state calling from partridges in the shrub-steppe above their home on Meadowlark Lane is a phenomenon each evening just after the sun sets. In August, when temps were hotter, Debie says the partridge visited their pond, just yards away from the steppe, in the afternoon to drink.
