[Update 2: Found a House Wren making the same sounds in the PV peninsula 8/22/20] [Update: John Garrett thought it sounded like a House Wren] Harsh calling, heard only. East of nature center in one of the noisiest parts of the park with loud kids and joggers with blaring radios -- so only a brief recording of calls that were repeated a dozen times or so. I'm uploading this because this call is different from the more common elongated mewing call that descends towards the end. I thought this was a call I've heard from California gnatcatchers in the past, and no other bird came to mind. But browsing through xeno-canto and the Macaulay Library, I couldn't find too many examples of this call among the hundreds of recordings of the typical calls. One is here: https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/143194951 I did not see the bird, so if it is wrong, I'm happy to change it to whatever else it may be.
