Détails de l'observation
**mega - part of a major push today of Sooty Terns along Atlantic seaboard and interior New England with Tropical Storm Isaias — This bird was flying into a very strong south wind in middle of Seekonk River but losing ground, often drifting to the north. Watched it for maybe 15-20 min before losing it northward. Could have been blown out of the river all together as it never rematerialized. Medium tern, jet black above with no contrast from head to tail, white below, tail almost all black, white forehead. Often coming quite close, easily studied with binoculars, sometimes flying high 100 ft plus over water surface. Just one for sure, though could have been multiple birds. Field sketch done after the fact without consulting resources prior (no camera due to long walk).
