Détails de l'observation
Continuing pair found by Cory Kampf at the crack of dawn today. Seen on the east side of the pond at the very edge. Very confiding pair. Despite the size difference, both birds are SESA. Plumage, primary projection, size, and bill length all consistent with this species. "Shorebirds" by Hayman does a good job of laying out the variety present in plumage and bill length. Females tend to have a longer and more downcurved bill. The downcurve could suggest WESA (bill not quite long enough here) or WRSA (bill would be yellowish at the base). As shared by Menachem Goldstein, male SESA bills are about 17-20mm, while females are 18-22mm.
