Turkey Vulture perching on a cliff near a Southern Sealion breeding colony. The Turkey Vulture (Cathartes aura) is the most widely distributed species of New World Vultures, ranging across North, Central and South America to the Falkland Islands. In the Falklands, scavenging Turkey Vultures are often seen around sheep flocks and seabird rookeries, and in this case a large breeding colony of Southern Sealions (Otaria flavescens) at Cape Dolphin. This bird was resting on a low cliff above the Sealions on the rocky beach below, waiting for some food to become available. Elevation: 7 m. Date added to IBC: February 11, 2019.
