A wary pair of Spectacled Ducks swimming in a pond. The Spectacled (or Bronze-winged) Duck (Speculanas specularis) only occurs in southern Chile and west-central Argentina to Tierra del Fuego. Spectacled Ducks are uncommon, and are also known as Bronze-winged Ducks because of the bright, reflective speculum on the wings. They mainly breed by fast-flowing rivers, and are also found on other wetlands. This wary pair of Spectacled Ducks was swimming and feeding on a pond near the Nordenskjöld Lookout in Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. Elevation: 1264 m. Date added to IBC: March 14, 2019.
