A Masked Lapwing hunting on short grass. The Masked Lapwing (Vanellus miles) is a large, noisy ground-dwelling bird with yellow facial wattles and is widely distributed throughout Australia. They are often seen on sites with short grass, probing with their bills to find earthworms, insects and their larvae. This bird was foraging in Yanchep National Park north of Perth in Western Australia. Elevation: 28 m. Date added to IBC: July 13, 2018.
