European Roller perching. The European roller (Coracias garrulus) is a summer migrant to Kruger Park and is the only species of roller to breed in Europe. European Rollers perch in prominent positions, watching for large insects or other prey then swooping down on to the ground to catch them. Large prey items are often beaten on the perch to soften them before they are swallowed. Elevation: 287 m. Date added to IBC: April 21, 2018.
