A bird giving a longer and lower-pitched series of calls, followed by more typical, shorter series. This race, with a markedly distinct voice, will be shortly proposed to be split as Alor Boobook (Ninox plesseni); main call of Southern Boobook is a repeated, double hoot. Elevation: 54 m.
