Bufff-breasted Paradise Kingfisher - Mound Excavation. Shot in early November 2016. This was about 3-4 days after the arrival of these bird on their breeding territory. The last shot was taken 3 days after the first. The excavation was into the center of the mound and the nest chamber was large enough that the birds could turn around inside the mound. Turning inside the mound often results in broken or worn tail streamer feathers. Small sections of white streamer feathers were found in debris mound at the base of the termite mound after "worn" adults started to appear in the area. Elevation: 12 m.
