Détails de l'observation
Rare fall migrant on mainland, and unusual for mid-August. First seen foraging on gravel driveway with sparse weeds (183 Hills Beach Road); also perched on wires. A rather dull and apparently worn Lark Sparrow. Medium large sparrow overall tan and brown above and white on underparts (no central breast spot seen but perhaps some worn and obscure spot-like streaks on breast sides/flanks?); long tail and rather large grayish bill; pale buff patch at base of primaries (seen with scope), bold face pattern of Lark Sparrow somewhat subdued--prominent black malar, white median crown stripe and rufous to chestnut brown lateral crown stripes; whitish buff corners to tail seen in flight; white tipped wing coverts created wing bars, which were not prominent on this individual. Photos. Also seen by MJI.
