Détails de l'observation
Continued. Observed and followed this individual for quite a while. Seems to associate with Goldcrests and Palla's leaf warblers, often in close proximity to other songbirds including Marsh tits, Japanese tits and Silver-throated tits. Forages along the trunks of pines and willows, picking out what seemed like small insect larvae between cracks and crevices of the tree bark. Mostly forages in upright position and spirals upwards along the tree trunks until it reaches the canopy, occasionally giving series of gentle single-noted calls. Normally switches to another tree or fly back down to a lower portion of the same tree (again, does not creep downwards) once it reaches the top. Also seen foraging on willows. At one point, it started flying up and down a willow tree in a spiraling fashion, rapidly circling the main trunk of the tree while vocalizing, really interesting behavior.
