Uploaded MP3 because WAV file was not processing correctly... fairly great recording of male-type hooting from something like 20-25 m. always tough when the subject is in the same hz range as all background noise. luckily wind, traffic, etc. were at a respectable minimum. recording unedited in terms of length of time between vocalizations. best one (in terms of background noise) probably around 02:27.

So awesome! So there I am, watching TV and drinking an elderberry gin cocktail in my living room when I hear the obvious call of a GHOW through my window!! Big deal, right? Well, realizing it might be sort of close, I thought it would be a good opportunity to record it (with my shotgun mic, distant GHOW's don't register too well, so an opportunity to get a really close one was exciting). Anyway, I go outside and hear it once more and realize I can probably walk down the block and get close to it... well, just as I was about to set off to find it, it flew right into one of the chestnut oaks in my front yard!!! with the nearly-full moon and well illuminated clouds, I got to see it surprisingly well as it flew up my street. fortunately I got to see (silhouetted) and listen to it vocalize for a few minutes before it continued onward to a stand of pines a few houses to the north, where it's still vocalizing now!
