Détails de l'observation
The Black Bellied Tern. A group of 4 birding friends were just wandering around on the riverbed around Karai Village when we saw a few Storks, flock of Egrets (Little, Intermediate & Great), Little Cormorants, Lapwings and few sandpipers along the water shoreline. A few moments in and we saw some River Terns doing their diving in the water to catch fish. We later started to realize that there were atleast 3 species of terns there. River terns with a deep forked tail, Black cap and Yellow Orange Beaks. Whiskered Terns which had a black nape and were much smaller in size with more flat looking tail. The third species is what caught the eye the most as it had a Black Belly with a very deeply forked tail, Orange Beak but it was considerable smaller in size compared to the River Tern. We referred to our field Guides and immediately confirmed it as Black Bellied Terns. There were 6 individuals there but we were unable to sex them. the 4 Birders present on 26th October during this sighting were Rahul Rathore, Mihir Mishra, Rakesh Singh and myself Ayaz Mansuri
