The darker black areas in the face lean us in the direction of first fall male rather than fall adult female but that in itself is likely not enough to separate definitively. The brownish edged primaries and secondaries along with the brownish primary coverts and alula point to a first fall bird. An adult CAWA would have more uniform gray. Furthermore this view affords a good look at the tips of the rectices (tail feathers) which are quite sharp (relatively unworn from wear) which also point us to a first fall bird. It is good to know this young fella has made it this far on the initial stages of his lengthy first migration.
