Détails de l'observation
Five seen after 1.5 months of none! Spectacular birds - one of the best. With luck I stumbled upon a group of 3 birds, performing displays in a tight space of forest floor. My view as about 10 feet away without binoculars. They performed just over the crest formed by a tree root so I saw mostly dorsal surfaces and heads and tails. After a while, the 3rd bird stopped and walked closer to me. This, I was able to see, had a red-brown rump, making it a female. The other 2 that kept displaying, I'm not sure of. Display; 3 birds involved. One usually, calling- 3 noted (loud). Sometimes a second joined but usually the first only. Both walked in front of each other, in circular fashion, pointing head 70-90 degrees to the ground, tail elevated. Occasional wing flicking. Heads twitched nervously. Throats displayed (puffed) like beards- exaggeratedly- especially the singer. Third bird (female) not as involved- walked around nearby. Broke up- started foraging and giving (thin) whistle call- a shorter version. Foraging -flipping leaves (at about 1/second) as it walked.
