Commentaires
Small, round head; "surprised" expression, lack of obvious pale nape. The tail doesn't look especially square-tipped, but I'm not sure that's a useful characteristic on a perched bird.
Détails de l'observation
At the time I first saw this bird (perched) I judged it to be a Cooper's Hawk based on what I thought was its large size and entered it as that in my eBird list. Later, I saw a nearby accipiter in flight and was pretty sure that bird was a Sharp-shinned. I recorded it as a separate bird in my eBird list, but made a mental note to check my photos carefully when I got home. Doing that, I decided that the perched bird I saw earlier actually looked good for Sharp-shinned, too. But I don’t know. Leaving both photos as SS/Cooper’s.
