NOTES: Type 3 call: Oomph chuck chuck!, reasonably close and good quality, 2 birds calling, Bird 1 calling type 1: Oomph! from >500m to NE; bird 2 calling Type 3: Oomph chuck chuck! Not clear what the sex or age of these birds are. Sulphur Crested Cockatoo in background. Main subject eagle sitting in "Fakila" tree, a type of fir, which is >40m high, situated on edge of ridge above a limestone coombe (valley). Calling includes Type 4 calls, which are Chuck chuck! and Chuck! on its own. The subject eagle had very pale head and neck plumage, with a dark mask around the eyes, which may be juvenile plumage. This eagle responded to playback by vigorous calling and turning to face me, instead of facing the other eagle calling from further away. I later decided that I heard only 2 eagles in these sequences and not 3, as stated in the commentary on the tape. This sequence includes a range of grunts and chortles not heard in any other recordings from this fieldwork. Response to playback: Orient. Response to playback: Normal song. Other Behaviors: Counter Singing, Advertise. Habitat: Cloudforest, Montane Grassland.
