It flew by right in front of me, landing in the reeds just a few feet away. Small size clearly smaller than green heron. Otherwise a bittern/heron shape. After it landed in the reeds near me, I went closer trying to find it visually. I couldn't find it, but as I got close to its location it called out loudly. I couldn’t believe it. Prior to all of that I had heard it call from a distance. First recording is when it called loudly from the reeds right next to me. Second recording is the call captured from a distance.
