Big sandpiper with long and thin neck, small head with white eye ring, fairly short straight bill. Buffy underparts, upperparts brown streaked. Long yellow legs. Slightly larger than the Killdeer. ID photo. Thanks to Dr. Harry LeGrand for finding it. We were observing it in the turf fields at the corner of Lake Wheeler Road and Dr. Bill Gilbert Way on the NCSU turf farm. If visiting STAY OFF THE GRASS and be mindful this is university property including the road (Dr. Bill Gilbert Way). A scope is recommended.
