*continuing from Friday; very distant! even though I knew Sabines was a distinct possibility I struggled to convince myself this bird wasn't a Red phalarope. Bird was all alone, farther than the main line of gulls, a tiny white dot. After watching for several minutes the bird exhibited behavior strange for any bird, let alone a phalarope--a head bobbing side to side followed by a flap of the wings, which I could see were pure white underneath. Eventually the bird flew and I could tell it was indeed a gull, and I saw the characteristic white secondary triangles of Sabines just as it landed again. From country club looking almost straight out perhaps a bit south there is a steep cliff with a wooden staircase going down it, and two gray Adirondack chairs on upper deck. Bird on water in that area.
