Seen through scope across lake in cove on south shore and observed for 10 minutes. There is a small spit in the cove, and clearly seen on land and at watersedge hunting. Seen several times freezing head after locking on prey, and slowly walking forward and then striking very abruptly and quickly.. Short bird, skulking, dark when shaded/appearing grey when illuminated with the sun, long heron bill, small bird and easily distinguished from any other bird.
