Behaketaren xehetasunak
; /m /p male Rose-breasted Grosbeak at feeder for five to ten minutes! The black-and-white pattern of this bird immediately caught my eye as I sat down to eat dinner with Heidi. I told her to run (not walk) and get her camera, and I rushed to the living-room window and grabbed the binoculars that I kept there. I could see the white undersides, black upperparts with bold white wing-patches, and conical bill. After a moment, the bird turned slightly, and I could see the triangular patch of rosy color on the breast as well. There were Black-headed Grosbeaks at the feeder on and off during this time; the Rose-breasted Grosbeak was the exact same size and shape as them, but with a very obviously different plumage color. We watched and photographed it for a few minutes, but then it flew into the pear-apple tree and disappeared, just as Heidi was getting ready to go out onto the porch to try for a closer photograph. Heidi's photos are much better than the poor ones I took with my little point-and-shoot camera, but I can't figure out how to put her photos onto this eBird checklist.
