This bird was found during Kincardine's CBC. A rare bird report was sent to Audubon. The photos are of poor quality but show some of the defining marks. There were high winds and a snow storm. The shore was frozen out about 5 meters and the big waves were splashing up on the ice. A number of gulls circled the area hoping the waves would wash up something new. Species Information/Description: The Kittiwake was distinctive from the other gulls because of the black pattern on it’s back . This was a juvenile bird and the black markings form what they call an m on the wings and a bar over the back of the neck. The legs are also dark and could be seen exposed at times. It was also the smaller than the Herring and Great Black-backed Gull
