NOTES: Background: DEROPTYUS ACCIPITRINUS (GULL-LIKE CA; Range status: NORMAL; Breeding status: TERRITORIAL PAIRED; Frequency of sound: NORMAL; General climate: WET; Cover density: THICK; BIRD WAS SINGING FROM THICK BRUSH BORDERING A GRANITE OUTCROP. BIRD RAPIDLY VIBRATED TAIL UP AND DOWN AS IT CALLED. SONG IS A CHARACTERISTIC FEATURE OF THE DAWN CHORUS. Subspecies information provided by Isler, Isler, and Whitney as part of their study on species limits in the T. punctatus complex (see Isler et al. 1997).
