As I was checking the pond for open water I startled a bird in the phragmites near the outtake. After a brief period I could make out a bird walking amongst the phragmites with a dirty yellow bill against a black face, then dirty greenish yellow legs, then a white under tail. Had to be a sora, a few pictures later it was confirmed. In the end I'm not sure who was more startled.
