A Gilbert's Honeyeater drinking briefly at a birdbath then flying off. Gilbert’s Honeyeater (Melithreptus chloropsis) is endemic to south-western Australia, was recently separated from its eastern Australian sibling species, the White-naped Honeyeater, (Melithreptus lunatus). The species inhabits forests and woodlands and mallee habitats. This Gilbert’s Honeyeater was making short visits to drink from a feather-filled birdbath in Wandoo (Eucalyptus wandoo) woodland at the Stirling Range Retreat, situated on the edge of the Stirling Range National Park in southern Western Australia. Elevation: 224 m. Date added to IBC: October 11, 2019.
