Behaketaren xehetasunak
This was a very flighty, nervous, quick-moving bird. Working in Wild Grape Vines draped over apple trees at intersection of old road and new road, upper orchard (near crabapple 'bush'.) Noticed vireo bill and unfamiliar plumage first. Snapped a few photos without knowing what settings I had on camera. Lost it when I turned to look at Clay-colored Sparrow. This bird is somewhat equivocal w/ juv white-eyed vireo. Note vague white spectacle around dark eye, with vague black line leading back from eye. Bill is pale. Single bright wingbar, with very small second (anterior) one. Yellowish wash on flanks, extending back as far as undertail coverts. Latter less yellow, but not quite white either. Back olive drab, top of head blueish gray. Nary a trace of yellow in spectacle. All juvie White-eyes I have ever seen have dark eye contrasty with yellow specs and have two prominent wingbars. . I compared this bird w/ photos Doug H. got of a Bell's Vireo on Monhegan last few days. They look like different birds to me, based on the length and thickness of the anterior wingbar. But this decision might certainly be reversed.
