Field Sparrow song
Behaketaren xehetasunak
This field sparrow was first considered a Savannah Sparrow when only the voice was recorded. When I first heard it as it sang from the top of an oak tree between the fields and the woodlands, it sounded more like a very unusually field sparrow. The voice was two short introductory notes follow by a monotone trill that didn't increase in speed over time or it was not a bouncing ball sound. It was a clear whistled note that was repeated in the pattern of a chipping sparrow or pine warbler with out the two introductory notes. Clearly the bird was not doing a normal call or song that I recognized or was able to find on I-Bird Pro. Henry finally zeroed in on the sound and I was able to photograph the field sparrow as it was singing.
