NOTES: Neotropical Institute Cut # 11. Bulk reel: 219 a) 6:30 AM. 4/IV/74 . Weather: Clear. A "series purr call," probably by Trogon collaris (additional calls by this species heard throughout this recording). A "series burry purr call" that at the time I thought might be by male Odontophorus; later work with stereo recorder indicates this call almost certainly by female while still in nest. Then, ~ 30" after emerging, flight by female and the vocaliz. by the meeting pair; before flying female gave more "whistle" calls. Quality: 2-3. Level: +3. Nagra SN & AKG mic. No parabola. 203 tape, speed 7.5. LN. Copied SN to N-4.2. b) 10:04 AM 4/IV/74. Weather: Fair. Set-up similar to that of 9b). Recording of event of female's return to nest. All recordings heard are by the female. Note: best portion for graphing study is from 35" to 55.") These calls are of very low amplitude; less even when the wood quail was within 50 cm of mike, then the song and calls of a T. olivater later recorded when it was in the trees overhead. Quality: 2. Level: +3. Nagra IV and Senn 405. No parabola. Tape speed 7.5. LN. 203 tape. Other Behaviors: Mate.
