Detalles de la observación
Yard bird! We first heard this warbler singing in the tree we refer to as tree negative one, in the field south of our house. It was a short, sweet, and clear song, without burry quality. Every song began with the bird alternating rapidly between two pitches but then ended with some virtuosity each time. We heard it singing for quite some time and we were stumped, and Merlin was stumped as well. It took us 20 minutes to get decent views and make a positive ID. We finally got a view of it - it was a perfectly formed male Magnolia Warbler with extensive bright yellow below and contrasting black flank streaks and black necklace. The face was dark with a prominent white supercilium extendeding well behind the eye. It worked its way from tree to tree and eventually headed west towards Boy Scout bridge. The bird was always inside the deepest part of every tree and moved around frequently. It was very difficult to view and photograph, but we did manage a few documentation photos. Fortunately, it was very vocal and we recorded it singing several times.
