Detalles de la observación
One brancher down on the ground directly next to the trail, did bill-clicking and wing flaring as we walked past to leave it in peace, and another nest further down-canyon. After crossing the marshy canyon bottom we stopped on the first dry bit of “trail“ to add birds to the checklist. After standing there for a minute I looked down and saw this fledgling owl on the ground a few feet from our feet. Next to it in the dirt was a dead rat headless. The fledgling was frozen like a rock. There was no place else to walk so Chris proceeded and the fledgling did not move. I went by and it still froze. By the time Carl went by it assumed this defensive pose and there was a lot of bill snapping. RCH
